An American criminal detained in Moscow airport

Russian law-enforcement agencies and secret services discovered a fact that a large consignment of jewels had been brought in to Russia by an international criminal group. Altogether jewels to the amount of $100 thousand, 1368 carats in weight, were withdrawn from criminals, the head of the Main Department for Straggle Against Economic Crimes of the RF Interior Ministry said at a press-conference in Moscow. According to him, USA citizen, who tried to bring in sapphires to Russia, and one of the chiefs of the airport, who provided unimpeded carrying-out of the undeclared jewels from airfield for his accomplice were detained January 12 in Moscow airport Sheremetievo.
