Cholera is raging in Africa

The number of victims of cholera epidemic in South Africa increases every day. The general number of victims since August 2000 amounts to 17 thousand. Every day more 300-500 persons contract the illness. 63 inhabitants of South Africa have died of cholera since August. In the new year the South African epidemiologists faced an effect of spreading of the epidemic throughout the country. The epidemic began in the province of Kvazulu-Natal about 5 months ago and spread in 4 other regions of the country, including central province of Khoteng, RIA Novosti reports. Outbreaks of cholera were observed in other countries of the South Africa, such as Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania, Swaziland and Zambia. The other day the epidemic began in Zimbabwe. The cases of cholera were registered in 22 states of Africa.
