Data obtained by sociologists of the Monitoring.ru research team have made it possible to conclude that over a half of the Russians believe in God. Russian Orthodox Church followers make up the overwhelming majority of the believers (91%). 5% consider themselves Muslims while 1% practice Judaism and another 1%, Catholicism. The survey has covered 1,600 respondents residing in 200 cities of the Russian Federation, Interfax reports. Just over a half of the Russians (53%) have been shown to think positively of the cooperation between Russian Orthodox and Roman Catholic Churches while 15% have displayed a negative attitude to such a cooperation.
