Shevardnadze asks for gas

Eduard Shevardnadze, president of the Republic of Georgia, has forwarded a letter to Vladimir Putin, president of the Russian Federation and Mikhail Kasyanov, Russian premier, asking to restore gas supply to Georgia. David Mirtskhulava, Geogia’s fuel and power minister, flied on Wednesday to Moscow for talks with his counterparts. The point is that on January 1st, 2001, gas supply was stopped to 9th and 10th units, owned by a US company, of the city of Tbilisi’s power station, Itar-TASS reports.
