Academician is accused of extortion and bribery

Investigation committee of the Internal Ministry of Russia brought an action against the director of Lomonosov’s Mechanics Institute, attached to Moscow State University Samvella Grigorian, said the chief of press-service of the Investigation committee Vladimir Martinov. He stated that the action was brought December 16 on the clause of Criminal Code “an attempt of an official to take a bribe, attended with blackmail”, Ria-Novosti reports. Grigorian was arrested the other day. He demanded a great some of money for prolongation of the lease contract from one of firms, rending an office in the Moscow State University. For the time being Grigorian is being held in Moscow jail, under examination.
