The World Jewish Congress has called on Interpol not to arrest Russian tycoon Vladimir Gusinski wanted by Russia’s law-enforcement agencies, Interfax reports. Alan Steinberg, WJC executive director, argues the media magnate, who has fled Russia, is being prosecuted not for crimes he allegedly committed, but for political reasons. It is “impossible that this agency (Interpol) be made a tool of political persecution of the outstanding Jewish leader,” the WJC statement says.
