The Samotlorsky gas field in the Tyumen district of Siberia has been blazing during the last 24 hours. The fire was caused by a burst due to a technological breakdown in one of boreholes during boring works last Friday. Interfax news agency reported. Gas being under a pressure of 100 atmospheres started leaking from the borehole. Gas started burning on Sunday. The burst was followed by a huge fire as gas flared up almost 25 meters high. The fire was classified as 3rd-degree of difficulty. The borehole is 245 mm in diameter, the gas reserve in this site is about one million cubic meter. More than 10 fire brigades are struggling against the fire. According to the preliminary information, nobody was injured.
