RUSSIAN SOLDIERS IN CHECHNYA FACE SPENDING WINTER IN TENTS

Due to limited financing, servicemen of 46th brigade of Russia’s Interior Ministry troops in the Chechen Republic will have to spend a winter in tents, says lieutenant-general Stanislav Kavun, deputy commander-in-chief. The financing is not envisaged in Russia’s draft 2001 budget, so consultations on the subject with the Duma, Russian Parliament, are now are under way , the lieutenant-general is quoted as saying by ITAR-TASS.
