1,5 or 2 thousand of fighters oppose federal forces in Chechnya, Sergey Yastrzhembskiy, president’s assistant announced today. According to him, the fighters have neither force no potential for carrying on active frontal clashes with federal troops, “Itar-Tass” announces. “According to service-men, the situation is difficult. It is controllable but not to such an extant to get rid the inhabitants and service-men of diversions and mine war, unleashed by the fighters”, - said Yastrzhembskiy. He has also said that elements of federal troops search for separate groups of fighters and their bases, especially in woodlands and in highlands.
