Arcady Bikov, Russian citizen, deserted Soviet Army in 1991, arrived in Canada after 10 years of wandering. Seeking political asylum in Canada, he addressed Canadian authorities. But soon migratory authorities arrested him and now they are going to send him back to Russia. In Russia he will be imprisoned for twenty years. Bikov’s lawyer is going to ask Canadian authorities to grant asylum to Bikov. If they deny asylum, Bikov will ask for permission to go to USA or Germany. Russian embassy in Montreal refused to give visa to the deserter because he is not a citizen of Russia and had never been seeking Russian citizenship. Officially he is a person without citizenship. Canadian authorities claim that Bikov’s papers are in order. They intend to send him home after hearing of his case on October 2. “RUSNET”
