Lesya Gongadze, mother of Ukrainian journalist Georgy Gongadze as if killed for his statements against the power, has submitted her writ to Pechersky Court of Kiev. Lesya Gongadze is bringing a suit against Ukrainian Public Prosecutor General’s Office and personally against deputy Public Prosecutor General Alexei Baganets. Lesya Gongadze says that the Public Prosecutor General’s Office caused moral damage to her, while refusing to consider her application demanding criminal liability of Ukrainian President Leonid Kuchma, of his administration’s head Vladimir Litvin and of ex-internal minister Yury Kravchenko. According to Lesya Gongadze, all of them are guilty of her son’s death. Lesya Gongadze demands recovery of moral damage in some of 1 grivna (about $ 0.20) – “because of the very low living standard of Ukrainian citizens.” “Instead of considering my writ about the crimes and of legally deciding the case, the workers of the Public Prosecutor General’s Office with deputy Public Prosecutor General Alexei Baganets at the head “closed” my writ,” – Lesya Gongadze writes. The journalist’s mother also asks to consider the fact of “closing” her writ as a malfeasance and exact from them a material compensation. Lesya Gongadze requests to call Public Prosecutor General Mikhail Potebenko as witness for the prosecution.
