Today the Russian President's Plenipotentiary Sergey Kirienko, who arrived in Germany yesterday, met with German Foreign Minister Yoshka Fisher. This Mr. Kirienko's visit is the last in a series of Governmental visits to the G8 countries to present Russia's new chemical disarmament programme. As a Rosbalt reporter was told at the press service of Mr. Kirienko, the German Foreign Minister spoke in favour of a clearer chemical disarmament process with less secrets. He also expressed his desire to inspect the final draft of the Russian destruction programme and to visit the chemical destruction plant in a village of Gorny, Saratov region, partly financed by Germany.
Sergey Kirienko said that the only factor that can seriously affect the already approved by the government programme is the not yet clearly defined position of the US as to how much financing should be provided to Russia.
Today Mr. Kirienko sat with Hans Derr, the Official Representative of the German government for the issues of weapon and disarmament control. He is also scheduled to meet with German business representatives at the Eastern Economic Committee of Germany.
