Moscow Optimistic About Development Of Economic Relations With Poland

The Secretary of Russia's Security Council, Vladimir Rushailo, commenting on the formation of a new government in Poland, said he feels optimistic about the development of economic relations between Russia and Poland. After meeting with the director of Poland's presidential National Security Office, Marek Siwiec, Rushailo expressed the hope that the new Polish government will establish "closer relations with colleagues in the Russian government, which will promote bilateral relations, above all in economy." Rushailo said he and Siwiec discussed anti-terrorist efforts and interaction on the Kaliningrad Region issue. The secretary emphasized that on this issue Russia and the European Union have come over from words to "concrete deeds." Marek Siwiec said that in combating international terrorism "Russia's experience will play a great role." Answering a question about the activities in Poland of information structures connected with the former separatist government in Chechnya, he described them as "very limited" and "insignificant." He said that even the activities of individual people interacting with these structures are analyzed. Any actions running counter to Polish laws will be cut short, Siwiec said.
