The parliament of Abkhazia addressed the parliaments of Russia, the United States, Britain, France and Germany with an appeal to "condemn the position of the Georgian leaders who have taken terrorists under their protection and use their services." Abkhazia is a self-proclaimed republic in Georgia. The reason for the appeal is the recent invasion of Abkhazia by units of Georgian and Chechen militants. As RIA Novosti was informed by the Abkhazian mission in Moscow, the message also contains the call "to stop Georgia's actions leading to the resumption of war." In the parliamentarians' opinion, "Georgia's practical actions show that it counts on the use of force" in resolving the conflict with Abkhazia. Abkhazia asks the international community to persuade Tbilisi "to renounce its attempts to use force and resume the process of peaceful settlement" of this conflict.
