According to the press service of the Natural Resources Department for the Far Eastern region, the 48 forest fires raging on the Khabarovsk territory, Russia's Far East have by now spread over 12,878 hectares of land. 11 of these fires are said to be "large-scale." Over the past 24 hours, the department registered 15 new fires covering an aggregate space of 54 hectares. Thick black smoke has once again enshrouded Khabarovsk, the territorial center with a population of 600,000, and its suburbs.
