Russian President Gives Instructions To Reimburse Imf Debts In Advance

Russian president Vladimir Putin has given instructions to the Central Bank to settle Russia's debts to the IMF to the tune of 2.7 billion dollars in advance. Russia's vice premier Alexei Kudrin told journalists about this after Putin's negotiations with IMF executive director Horst Koehler. He added that this referred to the 2002-3 payments. According to Kudrin, Russia's re-imbursements will raise the liquidity of the IMF, which will thereby have the opportunity to use the received funds in the credit regions. Thus, according to the vice premier, Russia is contributing to the development and prosperity of the global economy as a full member state of the Fund. During Putin's talks with Horst Koehler, Kudrin said, under discussion was Russia's role in reaching out to the countries in need, including to the CIS member states.
