At the moment, the Giant-4 barge with Kursk submarine fastened under its bottom is situated near Belokamenka bay in front of the Roslyakovo settlement. Here, the barge will be brought to anchor, and then the submarine will be shifted to floating dock PD-50. This will most occur tomorrow. Therefore, the submarine lifting operation is practically finished. Now, specialists of armaments plants and of Rubin central design office will start their work. Water will be pumped out of the submarine, while armament will be taken off and the reactor investigated. Afterwards, investigators and a funeral group will board the submarine: the Kursk catastrophe’s reasons must be cleared up and bodies of the deadd submariners must be located. On the whole, the work could last for several months. Afterwards, the nuclear submarine will transported to the city Snezhnogorsk, Murmansk region, where, in the Nerpa plant, the reactor compartment will be separated from Kursk, and the submarine itself will be utilized.
