Russia supports all actions in the struggle against international terrorism, no matter where it might be, said Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov on Tuesday after negotiating with his British counterpart Geoffrey Hoon. The head of the Russian Defense Ministry said that the "so-called cells and financial structures of terrorism are scattered all over the world." "The anti-terrorism struggle should not be restricted to forceful actions alone. The role of military in fighting terrorism is purely auxiliary. The military are needed whenever the disease has been too far neglected," stressed Sergei Ivanov. The Minister noted that, on the whole, it is necessary to use in the struggle against terrorism various non-force methods, including political, economic and others, with the main ones being the blocking of the international terrorist system's financing. Sergei Ivanov is convinced that "international terrorism should be struggled against by all structures and possibilities the countries have at their disposal -- finances and secret services, regardless of where the threat of terrorism emanates from." "It is obvious today that the threat comes from the territories of many countries, and not from Afghanistan alone," noted the minister. Sergei Ivanov said that "this is a doubtless fact, and stopping the terrorists' financial feeding is one of the decisive factors here."
