Four servicemen of Russian interior troops were wounded during yesterday's militant attack in Chechnya. Unknown assailants armed with automatic weapons and shoulder-held grenade launchers attacked the servicemen while the latter where on duty guarding a bypassing column of the federal forces on the outskirts of Gudermes. The soldiers opened response fire. A platoon commander and three active servicemen were wounded during the clash. On the same day, militants attacked checkpoints in Argun, prompting response fire on each occasion. None of police officers were hurt.
