A bear scalped an 11-year-old boy in the zoo of the town of Volsk, the Saratov region. Pavel Pikin was walking around in the park and somehow got into the cage with two bears. One of them tore the scalp off the boy’s head. The boy was saved by the police, who quickly appeared and shot the bear. The personnel of the zoo claimed the bear that attacked the boy was not noticed to be so violent. On the contrary, the other bear was violent and the professional hunters shot that bear to avoid any further such incidents.
Pavel Pikin is now in the Saratov regional hospital; he was taken there by helicopter. The condition of the boy is critical. He was rendered first aid in Volsk, but a series of operations is to follow.
