Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov commented on the planned construction of a railroad between the Sakhalin Island and the mainland and called it the first large-scale project with a significant economic and national importance in Russia. He recalled at today's meeting of the government that the possibility of constructing this railroad was first considered in the 50s but this project was never implemented. Kasyanov stressed that the volume of investments in this project will reach more than $4 billion dollars, therefore, it is important to make sure that this project, which was worked out by the Railroad Ministry, is grounded and will be repaid within set terms.
