Iranian Defence Minister To Arrive In Petersburg In The Context Of Official Visit To Russia

Iranian Defence Minister Ali Shamkhani on Thursday arrives in St. Petersburg in the context of his official visit to Russia. As RIA Novosti was told in the foreign relations committee of the St. Petersburg administration, the programme of the visit does not provide for official meetings and negotiations with the leadership of the city. The minister plans to visit the ship-building yards Severnaya Verf where he will be shown an export variant of the future escort ship (corvette). The yards will start the construction of the corvette, on order of the Russian Navy, in December this year. The corvette of a new, fourth, generation has been designed in Petersburg. The programme of Ali Shamkhani's presence in Petersburg also includes a visit to the Naval Museum, a boat trip and a sight-seeing tour of the city.
