Russian President Vladimir Putin has acknowledged the important contribution of the Russian customs officials into the formation of the Russian budget. The presidential press service told RIA Novosti Thursday that the president had sent his greetings to the participants in the meeting devoted to the Day of Customs Officials and the tenth anniversary of the Russian State Customs Committee. The president's greeting reads: "At all times, your service has been guarding the economic interests of our country. Today, you observe the traditions of the Russian customs, effectively combat smuggling, drug trafficking, and other threats to the Motherland's security. You make a significant contribution to the budget of our state." "Changes in the last several years have challenged you to find new approaches and new forms of work," Vladimir Putin's greeting continues. "Successful protection of domestic manufacturers and creation of a favourable investment climate are inconceivable without a modern customs system." "I am confident that professionalism and commitment will help you decently carry out the set tasks," said the Russian president.
