Russia's president Vladimir Putin firmly supports Macedonia's legitimate government in its fight to preserve the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity. A statement to this effect was made Monday by the Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov shortly before his meeting with Boris Trajkovski, Macedonia's president. In Igor Ivanov's words, Macedonia has fallen victim to international terrorism and it needs all-round support to fight against this evil. As Igor Ivanov stressed, the world community must clearly understand that the danger of extremism is coming from Kosovo and coordinate all countries' efforts in the battle against extremism. He also underlined that Russia would closely cooperate with Macedonia in this matter.
