The First Siberian Airshow SAKS-2001 is due to be held in Krasnoyarsk on December 1-4, 2001, according to the Krasnoyarsk territory administration press-centre. According to the press-centre, the plan to hold an airshow has been supported by the Transport Ministry, Russian Aerospace Agency, and other federal governmental offices. The main goal of SAKS-2001 is to attract the attention of Russian and foreign aircraft designers and airlines to feasibility of exploiting air routes via the North Pole. The airshow administration has invited over 700 Russian and foreign firms. More than 40 of them have confirmed their plans to participate in the airshow, among them are Boeing and Airbus, and a number of Russian enterprises that design air navigation devices, according to the press-centre.
