Stanford university hosted a symposium November 2, with its delegates deciding that investment into the Russian economy was vitally important for US security. The symposium was organized on the initiative of the nuclear threat committee. Former US secretary of defense William Perry and former House member Sam Nunn (Democrat, Georgia) also attended the event. The latter believes that US investment into the Russian economy constitutes an important element of US national security. The security of the United States begins in Russia, Nunn stressed, also calling on his fellow Americans to implement a large-scale investment policy on Russian territory.
