Meeting with the cabinet in the Kremlin, Russian president Vladimir Putin instructed the interior minister to intensify the fight against extremism. In the evening of October 30, 250-300 militant young men attacked civilians, chiefly Caucasus retail vendours, near the Tsaritsino metro station. The police had to shoot in the air in a bid to stop the riot. As a result, two men died, 23 were wounded. Among the victims there were Armenian, Indian and Afghani citizens. The police have detained 25 people. Criminal cases pursuant to Article 105, section 2 /murder/ and Article 213 /hooliganism/ have been instigated against the participants in the rally.
