Gov't Reinforces Control Of Tobacco Market

Russian government established a working group to elaborate on proposals concerning the reinforcement of state control of Russia's tobacco market. Agriculture Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Gordeyev reported this in an interview with RosBusinessConsulting after a session of the government commission for the problems of the agroindustrial complex today. According to him, the new working group will be elaborating on mechanisms for reinforcing the struggle against illegal tobacco sales. Tobacco is among the goods subject to excise duties. Thus, revenues from tobacco sales make a significant part of the federal budget.
