The Chechen administration has applied to Moscow for the establishment of a Chechen ministry of the interior. According to Chechen leader Akhmad Kadyrov's press-secretary Abdulla Izrailov, this question is being under review, but it is yet premature to discuss the future structure of Chechen law-enforcement bodies. Kadyrov has urged the disbanding of provisional interior departments to create on their basis a uniform agency. The military have accomplished their mission on a whole, Kadyrov said Tuesday at a Chechen Security Council session. Chechen sources indicate that an agreement has been reached with the federal centre that the new ministry will be headed by a Chechen.
