On Russian Militia Day which is marked on November 10, Boris Gryzlov, interior minister, will lay wreaths at the monument "Grateful Russia to law-enforcers killed in action." The ceremony will be attended by chiefs of subdivisions of the interior ministry's central apparatus, veterans, and members of killed militiamen's families. "Risking their lives, militiamen and servicemen of the interior troops counter armed and well-trained bandits, waging stubborn everyday struggle against criminals," reads Boris Gryzlov's message of greetings to militiamen. What is interesting is that this year the number of people who came to serve in the militia has increased, as well as the number of those who want to work as investigators and local inspectors. According to the interior ministry, in the January-August period of this year Russian militiamen disclosed over 14,000 crimes.
