Russian President Vladimir Putin has said the system of Army development control must be improved. Speaking at an annual meeting of the Russian Armed Forces command at the Ministry of Defence on Monday, he emphasised that resources must be concentrated on priority fields. "The re-armament of troops and purchase of new equipment requires serious state spending," Putin said. "We find the required funds, but the main criteria here must the efficiency and maximum payback of state spending." He emphasised that all services responsible for national security must work as one system. The main tasks next year will include essential enhancement of troops' combat and operational training, the president pointed out.
