The overall volume of investments in Russia in the period up to the year 2003 will grow by 150 percent on average from the 1999 level. These figures were cited by experts from the Russian ministry for economic development and trade with reference to the data of a forecast for the development of the country's economic regions till 2003. According to the ministry, by 2003 a growth in investments, albeit uneven, is forecasted for all economic regions of Russia. The greatest rise in the total volume of investments, considerably exceeding the Russian average level, is expected in the West-Siberian federal district (175 percent), the East-Siberian district (171 percent), and the Northern district (172 percent).
