Days of Sweden have started on the premises of the Swedish centre in Nizhny Novgorod, a major industrial centre on the Volga river, Tuesday. Valery Yevlampiyev, director general of the foreign economic ties and resources department of the regional administration, told RIA Novosti that an agreement on holding the event had been reached with Swedish ambassador to the Russian Federation Henrik Sven Hirdman last June during the opening of the Swedish centre in Nizhny Novgorod. Days of Sweden are organised annually by the Swedish embassy in Russia in different regions of the country to develop business and cultural cooperation. The Days have been already held in Rostov-on-Don and Krasnodar (South Russia), Yekaterinburg (Urals), Samara and Saratov (Volga area). 25 different Swedish companies will come to Nizhny Novgorod. Russia will be represented by major enterprises, an experimental design engineering bureau, and the Volga steamship line. Along with business meetings and visiting enterprises the cultural programme envisages showing of Swedish movies in cinema theatres of the city.
