Russia holds the view that the ABM Treaty of 1972 is not outdated, head of the Russian foreign-policy agency Igor Ivanov told journalists in Washington. According to him, "no one has said concretely what precisely has become outdated and what prejudices the interests of national security, specifically of the USA". One should not approach treaties from the standpoint of the "purely arithmetic" limitation period, Igor Ivanov emphasized.
