39 Ukrainians could be involved in funding September 11 attacks

The United States of America suspects 39 Ukrainians of funding the acts of terror. This was said by the chief of the Ukrainian parliamentary committee for struggle with the organized crime and corruption, Yury Karmazin. Those 39 Ukrainians are suspected of funding “dirty” operations, including the terrorist ones, said Karmazin. According to him, in connection with the tragic events of September 11, the US Ministry for Justice, the Foreign Ministry and the US Department of State addressed to the adequate Ukrainian bodies with a request to give the information about them. Karmazin refused to mention any names, although he knew them. Answering the question from journalists, if there were the Ukrainian deputies on the list of the suspects, Yury Karmazin said: “Let’s say there are businessmen on it, who started dealing with politics afterwards.”

Yury Karmazin also pointed out the importance of the fact that the law “About the prevention and counteraction to money laundering” had been approved. Karmazin said that the law was vital for the state to protect its national interests; it would help to return the funds, which had been taken out of the country abroad. Karmazin advised, the amount of the illegal (“dirty”) funds in Ukraine made up some $30 billion.
