On Thursday the Russian State Duma (the lower house of parliament) adopted amendments to the federal law's article On Advertising. A RIA Novosti correspondent reports that the new legislation prohibits interrupting by advertisements or accompanying by creeping ad lines children's, educational and religious programmes, radio performances, fiction films as well as some live programmes and programmes broadcast during less than 15 minutes without the consent of right holders. Intervals between ads interrupting all other programmes should exceed 15 minutes. The law also prohibits turning up the volume during advertisement broadcasts. It is prohibited to repeat one and the same advertisement more than two times an hour. Advertisment in TV- and radio programmes not registered as specialising in advertisment-type reports and materials should not exceed 20 percent of live time. The law comes into force once it is published.
