A group of Lithuanian parliamentarians headed for Kaliningrad (the Russian exclave in the West) on Friday. They are to discuss collaboration with deputies of the Kalinigrad Duma. A bilateral deputy council was established in June 2001, Alvidas Myadalinskas, the Head of the Lithuanian delegation, said adding that the forthcoming meeting will be the first forum of Lithuanian and Kaliningrad parliamentarians. The Lithuanian deputies are to discuss with their neighbours prospects for the development of the Kaliningrad region in the light of EU expansion and the economic and cultural relationship between this region and Lithuania.
