The oil company LUKoil in cooperation with the Itera company are planning in the near future to start developing three gas fields in Uzbekistan, said LUKoil's Vice-President Yury Storozhev at a press conference on Friday. According to Mr. Storozhev, an agreement with Uzbekistan's government on LUKoil's participation in the development of the gas fields has been reached, and "the issue of company access to the Uzbek gas pipeline, which will carry the gas extracted at the three fields, has been solved." In July of this year, Uzbek Prime Minister Valery Atayev, LUKoil's President Vagit Alekperov, President of the Itera International Group Igor Makarov, and First Deputy Chairman of the National Holding Company Uzbekneftegas Asror Abidov signed an agreement on basic principles and articles of the Agreement on the Development and Product Sharing of the Fields of Bukharo-Khivinsky and Gissarsky Oil and Gas Fields and on Geological Prospecting in Uzbekistan.
