Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his thanks to pilots of military transport aviation for the successful accomplishment of the task of delivering to Kabul staff members of the Russian embassy and the Ministry of Emergencies, attending personnel, as well as humanitarian aid and building materials. On instructions of Defence Minister Sergei Ivanov, the president's message of thanks to the pilots was sent by Air Force commander General Anatoly Kornukov. "The fulfilment of such an important and large-scale task in conditions of the absence of required navigation equipment and partial destruction of facilities on the airfield testifies to the high skills and good training of military transport aviation crews," a Defence Ministry official has said.
