Teachers Go On Hunger Strike In Primorye Region

Eight teachers went on hunger strike in the Boguslavetskoye village in the Primorye region of Russia. They demand to repay debts on their salaries that they did not receive since October 2001. The chairman of the local trade union of educational workers explained that regional officials did not draw up necessary documents for the repayment of the debts. Meanwhile, the eight teachers went on hunger strike without the necessary medical supervision. It was reported earlier that the regional administration allocated 200 million rubes ($6.57 million) for state employees working in Primorye.
