Vice-premier and minister of industry, science and technologies Ilya Klebanov is critical of work of his ministry. At the session of ministry's collegium held Tuesday the vice-premier stated that he is not satisfied with the ministry's work in 2001. According to Klebanov, the ministry of industry, science and technologies lacks a comprehensive ideology of work. "The ministry should work more effectively, generate more ideas and be fully responsible for the development of industry, science and technologies in the country," the minister said. He reported that early in 2002 a joint conference of heads of the ministry of industry, science and technologies and the Russian Academy of Sciences was held to work out a single concept of developing Russian high technologies and specify 8-10 priority directions of their development. A working group has been set up to implement the concept, Klebanov noted. It will engage in the development of a respective package of legal documents. Moreover, a decision was made to review federal targeted programmes of the ministry in the light of the new ideology, Klebanov noted.
