A Richter 5.3 force earthquake hit Jakarta today, reports the national Meteorological and Geophysical Agency. Local seismologists think the epicentre was in the ocean several hundred kilometres west of Jakarta at roughly 20 km under the ocean surface. The tremors lasted for about 90 seconds, when the staff and clients of offices and shops located in high-rise buildings hurried to run outside. There is no official information about casualties or destruction.
