More details about the murder of Makhachkala Vice-Mayor Ahmed Aliyev have been received. The municipal Office of the Public Prosecutor has instituted legal proceedings in accordance with clause #25 “Terrorism” of the RF Criminal Code. Originally, the proceedings were instituted on clause #105 “Murder of two people," but, later, the Prosecutor’s Office of Dagestan amended the classification of the crime.
In the words of the First Deputy Public Prosecutor of Dagestan, Khabibula Aliyev, Ahmed Aliyev and his wife were murdered by two masked men, who left the pistols in the house. The elder son of the Aliyevs was at school at the moment of assassination; the younger son stayed at home and did not suffer.
Officials of the municipal administration admit that the assassination of Aliyev, who was responsible for real estate problems in the administration, was connected with his professional activity. Ahmed Aliyev dealt with the liquidation of uncontrolled markets in Makhachkala.
ITAR-TASS informs that relatives of the murdered mention several threats received by Aliyev in connection with the closing of the city wholesale market. A court hearing on the case was scheduled for Tuesday. Ahmed Aliyev was summoned to court as one of the initiators of the market’s closure.
Makhachkala mayor Said Amirov says that the murder of his close aide reveals “criminal disorder in the country.”
The law enforcement authorities have published no particular comments so far.
