A review of the fundamental provisions of the Constitution amounts to reviewing the basic principles of the state regime, Russian president Vladimir Putin said Wednesday at a gala Kremlin reception devoted to the Day of Constitution. The head of state stressed that the issue of amending the Constitution to the effect of having a new Fundamental Law is not on the agenda in our country. This is fully true of the presidential term in office which will remain the same for the incumbent president, said Putin. The revision of the constitutional norms is motivated by the political situation--it is a direct way towards the crisis of power and dangerous state conflicts, the president assured.
