12 little Negroes baptized in church

Yesterday, in St. Sunday Cathedral of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Kiev Patriarchy in the city of Sumy, 14 inhabitants of a family children’s home were baptized, of them 12 are Negro children.

The organizer of the family children’s home, Olga Nenya, took all the children from Kiev childrens' homes. The children speak exclusively in Ukrainian. The children were baptized by the cathedral’s priest, Father Alexandr, while the godparents were the Sumy city's head and the regional official of the Rukh movement. The godparents believe that “skin color does not hinder anybody from feeling Ukrainian and Orthodox.”
