The mass death of fish in the Siberian river of Argun in the Chita region (Eastern Siberia) has been caused apparently by the discharge of industrial waste into Argun's tributary - Hailar river in the Chinese city of the same name. Last week a mass death of fish was registered near the village of Kailastui, Krasnokamensky district of the Chita region. The water in the river began to smell medicines and foam. As RIA Novosti was told on Monday in the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the administration of the China region had sent an inquiry to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs about the cause of the discharge of the industrial waste, but has not yet received an answer.
