Ford Motor Company To Open Plant In Russia In April 2002

The Ford Motor Company will open a plant in the town of Vsevolzhsk in the Volga region of Russia on April 26, 2002, president of Ford Motor Company-CIS Henrick Nenzen announced at a meeting with journalists today. He announced that they are searching for suppliers of accessories now. At present, workers are assembling equipment in the welding and dyeing workshops of the plant. At the beginning, every Ford car will be provided with accessories from Russian suppliers worth $400 or 500. Ford Motor Company is planning to assemble 500 Fords in the first quarter of 2002. In addition, Ford officials are discussing the possibility of producing Volvo cars at this plant. However, according to Henrick Nenzen, this will become possible only after the mass production of Ford Focus is launched.
