Rabbis of CIS countries and the post-Soviet Baltics opened congress at hotel Crown Plaza on the Dead Sea coast. All post-Soviet countries have sent their Chief Rabbis to attend the event, as well as the rabbis of major cities, and Jewish community activists, reports Alexander Boroda, Vice-President of Russia's Jewish Community Federation. The 200 delegates will analyse Jewish community life in the post-Soviet area at seminars, lectures, public debates and roundtables. Berel Lazar, Chief Rabbi of Russia, leads the Russian delegation.
