Bill White: Propaganda Blitz Do Americans Owe Allegiance To Their Government Or To Their Nation?

“There comes a time in the course of human events When a threat must be answered with courage and strength Our forefathers earned the right to be free Now its time to guard that dream …

“We guard our right to fight for democracy … And to keep our country free.”

So sang the satirical hired propaganda singers of Barry Levinson’s 1997 film Wag the Dog. In the movie, as most know, the government hires Hollywood producers to trick the media into believing there is a war on in order to cover for a child molesting president who is facing re-election. The movie is satire, but it is satire the ruling class has learned from, for one only has to look at the lyrics of the latest country Western hit by Alan Jackson, “Where were you when the world stopped turning?”, to get a good laugh:

“Did you burst out in pride for the red white and blue? … Did you feel guilty 'cause you're a survivor? … I'm not a real political man … But I know Jesus ... [And] He gave us … Love.”

It has everything that the cynical could ask for in an opiate for the masses: phony “patriotism”, phony religion, phony pop psychological self-analysis and “validation” in the psycho-analytic nonsense sense. Even the moron proles that provide the consumer base for this kind of garbage can feel warm fuzzies about this one – and hey, at $9.99 the album, “American Patriot”, is cheaper than actual therapy! And in the end, it give us the answer to all our problems. Love. Love for you, love for me. Love for everyone. Those poor terrorists, why couldn’t they love, too? Why didn’t they love their children who were being butchered by US supplied weapons to Israel, or their people who were being starved by US sanctions in Iraq. No, they couldn’t have loved. After all, they didn’t love Israel. Now that would’ve been love even Alan Jackson could have been approved to sing of.

The song’s most telling line is probably this:

”I watch CNN but I don’t know if I can tell you the difference in Iraq and Iran.”

Exactly. And that’s the problem. Americans are so ignorant that even when they watch television news programs they come away actually knowing less about the world than they did before, because when they came to the program they knew they were ignorant, and when they leave, they are just as ignorant, but don’t know it anymore!

But the problems aren’t limited to the troubles of country music radio – the replacement of Hank Williams Jr’s “Country Folk Can Survive” and “If the South Would’ve Won” with pre-fabbed pseudo-“patriotic” prolefeed, or the replacement over the past decades of the delightfully reactionary lyrics of Merle Haggard’s “Okie From Muskogee” (“we don’t smoke marijuana in Muskogee/we don’t take no trips on LSD”) in favor of lectures on the plight of the homeless from new-found country wanna-be Tommy Shane Steiner. America has more fundamental difficulties – starting with the fact that its own government recently lied to it, circulating a phony translation of an alleged video of Osama bin Laden on its airways, and ending with, of course, the dangers that the machinations of Israel are posing to world peace.

Say What?

On December 20, 2001, Germany’s Channel One Television ran a ground-breaking expose. According to two experts they consulted, Dr. Abdel El M. Husseini and Dr. Murad Alami, the CIA’s translation of the infamous Bin Ladin confession video – the video released to the public and broadcast on all American news stations – was faked. Channel One reporters Ekkehard Sieker and Georg Restle FOIA’ed a copy of the original Arab-language video from the US State Department, and this is what their experts discovered. the report says the following:

“Example 1: According to the translation, Bin Ladin says: We calculated the number who would die in advance.…

”Dr. Murad Alami, translator: It does not say 'in advance'. This is false …

“Example 2: According to the translation Bin Ladin says: We had received a message on the preceding Thursday that the event would take place on this day.…

”Dr. Murad Alami translator: The word 'preceding' is not there. … Example 3: According to the Pentagon bin Ladin says: "we required every one of them to go to America." …

”Dr. Murad Alami, translator:"This translation with 'we' is false. It is the word 'them', in the Arab original version, which I hear. …”

And so on. And this was not broadcast on an “alternative” or “fringe” television program – it appeared on the German television equivalent of 60 Minutes. The American media and government are aware of the claims, and have chosen not to let the bulk of the American people in on it. The reason is that the government knows the video is false.

In fact, the available evidence demonstrates that only two groups of people had foreknowledge of the attacks. One was the terrorist cell led by Mohammed Atta, who died on September 11 when his plane crashed into the World Trade Center. The other is the nation of Israel, who, according to the Washington Post’s September 28, 2001 article “Instant Messages to Israel Warned Of WTC Attack”:

“OFFICIALS at instant-messaging firm Odigo confirmed today that two employees received text messages warning of an attack on the World Trade Center two hours before terrorists crashed planes into the New York landmarks. …Israel received a warning from another Odigo user approximately two hours prior to the first attack.”

And that doesn’t even get into the mysterious disappearing news stories run by Fox last month, where Carl Cameron investigated the role of Israeli spies in the United States until Jewish organizations launched a formal campaign to have his investigation shut down – a campaign that ended in all records of the story on Fox News’ website being destroyed.

One reader from South Africa recently wrote to me on this issue, asking:

“If … the tape has been falsely translated, is it possible for you to notify the press that reaches the larger world or to have someone of great note to advertise your facts?”

Unfortunately, the answer I had to give was no. The press in America and the people of great note are aware of the facts, and chooses not to report on them because they do not serve the political interests of the segment of society which controls the means of cultural production. It’s corporate socialism – modern capitalism – at work at its finest.

Patriotism? Nationalism?

When a corrupt government is in power, those who typically feel loyal to their nation face a dilemma – is it more patriotic to stand by their government do or die, or is there a higher form of loyalty to something more fundamental to the nation than the state. It was a question debated by Adolf Hitler (taking the part of the government) and Otto Strasser (taking the part of the ideal) before Strasser’s highly publicized break with the Nazi Party in 1933. According to Strasser’s account of the conversation, from his 1940 book Hitler and I: [Strasser] said, “… The Idea is divine in origin, while men are only its vehicles, the body in which the Word is made flesh. The Leader is made to serve the Idea, and it is to the Idea alone that we owe absolute allegiance. The Leader is human, and it is human to err.”

[Hitler replied:] “You are talking monumental idiocy. You wish to give Party members the right to decide whether or not the Fuehrer has remained faithful to the so-called Idea. … For us the Idea is the Fuehrer and each Party member has only to obey the Fuehrer.”

David Horowitz, on his website www.FrontPageMag.com, takes the “neo-conservative” part in this argument – the part of Hitler -- demanding that Americans follow the Leader (George W Bush – and the advisers who control him) do or die, regardless of whether Bush’s actions are in line with the ideals of the American nation. As his opponent in this “debate” he recently picked Joseph Goebbels’ pamphlet Those Damned Nazis (1933), which he quoted as saying:

“The nation is the organic union of a people to protect its life. … To be national has nothing to do with a form of government or a symbol. … [T]oday in Germany[,] Nationalism has turned into bourgeois patriotism and its defenders are battling windmills. One says Germany and means the monarchy. Another proclaims freedom and means Black-White-Red. Would our situation today be any different if we replaced the republic with a monarchy and flew the black-white-red flag? …Bourgeois patriotism is the privilege of a class. … [F]aith in the nation is a matter for everyone, never a group, a class or an economic clique. … Maintaining a rotten economic system has nothing to do with nationalism. … I can love Germany and hate capitalism. …Only the annihilation of a system of exploitation carries with it the core of the rebirth of our people.”

It is certainly an un-even debate -- a living person versus a seventy year old piece of paper. Whether Horowitz can recognize that Goebbel’s pamphlet is one of the most telling criticisms of his phony parasitical play on patriotism is not clear, but that doesn’t change the essence of nonsense is his argument, the argument that is shared by the entire clique of neo-conservatives that have formed around newspapers from the New Republic to National Review and the New York Post. Their argument is that a government that is “democratic” and “capitalist” in rhetoric, regardless of its actual form or actual service to the people, is more important than a government that actually reflects the character and ideals of the America.

Given that, it should not be surprising that these same intellectuals see the American worker as something essentially alien from them, and have been the same clique who have spent the past century degrading honest Americans as “rednecks” and negatively contrasting rough rural honesty with their own urbanized and cosmopolitan “sophistication”.

And it is that difference that is sharply reflected in the contrast between the mass produced empty “patriotism” of Alan Jackson and the reactionarily honest working-class stylings of a musician like Merle Haggard. The latter drew his patriotism from a root in the real experiences of the American worker. The former’s modern “patriotism” is simply empty words in service of an alien ruling class who actively despises the American worker at any time when there is not a need for those workers to fight and die in war.

Israel and World War III

Of course this kind of phony bourgeois “nationalism” which has swept the country is leading us in the direction of further international conflict. The targets are Iraq and Pakistan, and eventually much of the rest of the Islamic World. In this war, the aggressor nation will be Israel, and she will fight through her two proxies – the United States and India – eventually attacking and destroying, if possible, all of Islam.

On January 3, 2002, the Israeli daily Ha’aretz reported on Israel’s plans for war against Iraq, and how Israeli military attaches have been telling American defense officials – Jewish Zionists like Paul Wolfowitz and Richard Perle – exactly what the US is expected do for the Jewish state. In Ha’aretz’s words:

“In contacts between Israeli and American defense officials over the past few weeks, the Pentagon's representatives were asked to plan their operations in Iraq in such a way as to minimize the Iraqi ability to move missile launchers into western Iraq, from which missiles can reach Israel. The Americans were told that Israel expects them to conduct operations, including on the ground, in western Iraq … Israeli officials say they believe the Pentagon will accede to this request.” Just the day before, Ha’aretz reported that Israel had been selling weapons – AWACs planes, likely of American origin, to the government of India, in order to assist them in playing Israel’s proxy for war with Islamic Pakistan. You see, America’s “war on terrorism” has so weakened the Pakistani government that the Indians believe they can now defeat it, and the risk of an Asian war involving three nuclear powers – Pakistan, India, and their neighbor China -- is now very real. Ha’aretz claims Israel has united with India because:

“Both countries represent peoples with an ancient history and culture and they are both the only democracies, with secular governments, neighboring a vast ocean of non-democratic Muslim states. They both have large Muslim minorities, and suffer from terror imported from neighboring Muslim countries.”

But this is, of course, ridiculous. Israel is not a democracy – it is to racial nationalism what Bolshevism was to socialism – a ridiculous, destructive parody by a people who have appropriated something they are fundamentally culturally unable to understand. It is also an exporter, not an importer, of terror. Ironically, India’s government is also ruled by radical racial nationalists – this time the real thing – who adhere to a doctrine called Hindutva, which is, in the words of Antiwar.com’s Justin Raimondo:

“[A] racial and religious mythology similar to the old German racialist concept of the Volk, the nation-race or collective soul of a people.… According to the ideologues of Hindutva, the present-day Indians are the descendants of pure ‘Aryans’ who conquered the subcontinent some 8,000 to 10,000 years ago, and are also the also the heirs of today's northern Europeans. One guru floated the theory that the original ‘Aryas’ came out of the Arctic circle, and then descended on India where they established their empire and divided society into castes, with themselves, naturally, at the top. The … Hindutva movement … has a provision in its constitution that its Supreme Leader must be a blue-eyed Sarasvat Brahmin. The symbol of this … movement is, appropriately enough, the swastika …”

Unfortunately this movement, like Hitler’s Germany, seems to have failed to inherit a respect for the national cultures of its neighbors. And like Hitler’s Germany, it seems on the verge of a destructive potentially world-altering war that ultimately will serve no interests but those of the Zionists. As Ha’aretz reported:

“Saddam won't hurry to attack Israel” during this US-Indian offensive, but there is no question that the Muslim nation of Pakistan will attack India, possibly with nuclear weaponry, just as terrorists will continue to attack the United States. Soon we will be able to add Indian skyscrapers to the casualty list, and everyone involved will be a loser – except, of course, for Israel, who will remarkably escape unscathed.

What has become very clear is that Israel and its allies in America’s governing establishment are gearing up for a world war to destroy all of Islam just as they geared up for a war to destroy Europe in the 1930s, and that they are recruiting new allies in the struggle to do so. Despite objections from Europe, Turkey, Russia, China, and the rest of the civilized world, these three nations, the US, India and Israel, the only three nations where a majority of the public supported the US during the start of the “war on terrorism”, are preparing to set the world on fire at the direction of these elite, and invocations of US nationalism will be the tune they play to get American workers to dance along.

Conclusions

As George Orwell once predicted, American radio now plays essentially nothing but

“one of countless similar songs published for the benefit of the proles by a sub-section of the Music Department. The words of these songs [are] composed without any human intervention whatever on an instrument known as a versificator.”

And our television is even worse. There is no way any American who depends primarily on the television news, the newspaper, the radio, and other Americans for information can have any clue as to what is going on in the world outside of their total immersion in false reality. That is why the September 11 attacks were such a shock – Americans were forced to wake up, just for a second and look around, before the ruling class delivered another, more powerful sedative to and sets them back in their seats.

There is almost no way that any American can see through this cloud to the root of our current dilemma – the machinations of a clique, centered in Israel, with colonial outposts in the United States and around the world, that is manipulating existing conflicts in the world with the intent of faring them up into a Third World War that will be truly global in scope. It is the hope of these men that they rope into the destruction, on one side or another, not only India, but also China, Russia, and as much of Europe as is willing to go along – which fortunately at the moment seems to be only Britain.

How an evil of this depth can form is almost unfathomable. But what is fathomable is the response that must be made. The American people need to wake up from their slumber and look around them at the men behind the curtain who are pulling the strings and producing the prolefeed which is egging this destruction on. And once this can be seen clearly, Americans may benefit from a glance to the past for a notion of what is to be done in response. In the later 7th and early 8th centuries AD the English King Aethelferth of Northumbria met in war the Britons of North Wales at Chester, and one thousand of the monks of Bangor-on-Dee joined the Christian Briton host to pray for his pagan defeat. Aethelferth won the battle and captured the monks, and when deciding their fate said the following: “If these men invoke their God against us, they fight against us, even if they have no arms.”

The monks did not survive, and given the scale of the murder our rulers are planning, perhaps it is best if the institutions of America’s and Israel’s elite do not either.
