Russian President Vladimir Putin sees good pre-requisites for geo-political cooperation between Greece and Russia. According to the president, they appeared after practically the entire world realised that "ideological cliches of the past [were] obsolete." At a joint press conference with the Greek prime minister, Vladimir Putin stressed that Russia and Greece could effectively work together in the sphere of infrastructure projects, while they could also "effectively interact" with neighbouring countries. The head of state pointed to close cooperation between the two countries' foreign ministries on the international stage, as well as the effective work conducted by a bilateral intergovernmental commission. The president added that he had discussed cooperation in the environmental sphere with the Greek premier at today's talks. Vladimir Putin stressed that this concerned not only environmental analyses of joint projects, but also cooperation in the environmental protection of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
